All students are encouraged to participate in sports, this year we fitted out a Gym with treadmills, rowing machines and bikes. (There is also a air-hockey table and a pool table). Last year, a company was brought into the school to test out the fitness of all the First years and to give them advice on how to get fit. A number of students also made the weekly trip to Butterfly Farm and learned how to horseride. Many of our students are part of football, basketball, soccer and hurling teams. Our school also brings home a haul of medals from the annual County Athletics Sports Day. The BCC Annual Sports Day is a highlight in the school year. Class groups compete against each other in various activities and the competition is intense.

Bunclody Community College launched its new rugby program, marking an exciting expansion of its extra-curricular sports offerings. The initiative began with a presentation by Leinster Rugby to gauge student interest, which saw a great turnout.

Harper, a student of Bunclody Community College, who has been selected for the Wexford FC Academy and will be part of the squad representing the interleague team in the upcoming Gaynor Cup.
Harper’s selection is a fantastic achievement and a testament to her dedication, work ethic, and talent on the pitch. Competing at the Gaynor Cup is a major milestone in any young player’s development, and this opportunity reflects the high standard she continues to set both in school and in football.

Cian Jordan
Cian, of Bunclody Community College has recently represented Ireland with great pride at the Blackball Pool Federation competition — a fantastic achievement and a testament to his dedication and talent.
Cian’s success continues at county and national level, as he has been selected for both the Wexford U18s A Team and the Wexford U23s A Team. In addition, he has earned selection on the Ireland U23s A Team, an outstanding accomplishment that reflects his commitment, skill, and hard work.
We are extremely proud of Cian’s achievements and wish him every continued success as he competes at the highest levels of the sport.
Carla Byrne
We are incredibly proud to celebrate one of our own from Bunclody Community College Carla Byrne who has gone on to achieve fantastic success on the national stage. From her early days representing the school with dedication, determination, and a true passion for the game, it was clear that Carla possessed a special talent and an exceptional work ethic.
Today, seeing Carla compete in the League of Ireland with Klub Kildare is a tremendous source of pride for our entire school community. Her journey is a testament to perseverance, commitment, and self-belief — values we strive to nurture in all our students at Bunclody Community College.
