At Bunclody Community College, we recognise the many challenges parents and guardians face when raising teenagers in today’s digital world. Technology plays a central role in young people’s lives, and navigating issues such as screen time, social media, online safety, gaming, and digital wellbeing can be complex and overwhelming. As a school community, we are committed to supporting parents and guardians in meeting these contemporary parenting challenges.
To this end, Bunclody Community College is delighted to offer an eight-week online parent/guardian course entitled “Parenting the Tech-Savvy Child”, delivered by renowned psychologist Dr Richard Hogan. This highly regarded programme is designed to help parents better understand the digital landscape their children inhabit and to provide practical, evidence-based strategies for supporting healthy development, resilience, and positive relationships with technology.
The course will run in two parts in Bunclody Community College:
- Part 1: Four weeks online, commencing on Tuesday, 3rd February 2026 at 7.00 p.m.
- Part 2: The remaining four weeks will take place in October 2026
Dr Hogan is well known to our school community, having previously visited Bunclody Community College to deliver talks to students, staff, and parents. His engaging and accessible approach has been very positively received, and we are delighted to once again work with him in supporting our families.
Attached to this article, parents and guardians will find a brochure containing further details about the Parenting the Tech-Savvy Child (PTSC) programme. Also included below is an introductory video message from Dr Richard Hogan, in which he outlines the rationale behind the programme and the key themes it explores.
We strongly encourage parents and guardians to consider engaging with this valuable course, which aligns closely with our school’s commitment to student wellbeing and strong home–school partnerships.
Further information on registration and access details will be shared in due course.
