“Building strong, sustainable supports between home, school and community.”
We are very fortunate to have t the National Home School Community Liaison Scheme can bring to our school’s curriculum.
Some of the main roles of the Home School Coordinator in Bunclody Community College are:
- to provide support during student’s transition from sixth class to first year.
- to work directly with the significant adults in student’s lives so as to seek direct benefit for the children themselves.
- to raise awareness in parents of their own capacities to enhance their child’s educational progress and to assist them in developing relevant skills.
- to further develop pupil-parent-teacher relationship, so that school becomes a place where all young people feel comfortable and can reach their potential.
- to become familiar with attendance patterns, in order to maximize student attendance, participation, retention and progression to Further Education and/or employment.
- to work in a supportive and purposeful way with parents and to facilitate communication with class teacher, tutor, year-head, and school management, when required.
- to promote positive teacher and staff attitudes towards partnership with parents and adopting a whole-school approach to attendance, participation and retention.
Ms Kinsella has recently been appointed as our Home School Community Liaison Coordinator.
Our HSCL coordinator and the College Care Team are here to help with any difficulties parents and students may experience during their time in second level. Parents are encouraged to contact our school to discuss any concerns in relation to their son's/daughter's transition to Bunclody Community College, their progress, or their wellbeing.
