Last week, our school community came together to celebrate Bí Cineálta Week in Bunclody Community College — a joyful and meaningful initiative dedicated to promoting kindness, inclusion and respect throughout our college.
Led by our dedicated staff Cineáltas Core Team, and supported by our enthusiastic Meitheal Leaders and Cineáltas Student Leaders, the week was filled with vibrant activities designed to strengthen our sense of community and deepen awareness around bullying-type behaviours, while actively promoting a culture of kindness.
Kindness in the Classroom
Throughout the week, teachers reinforced the themes of empathy, kindness and respectful interactions through specially themed lessons. Students engaged in thoughtful discussions and reflective activities that encouraged them to consider the impact of their words and actions, and to recognise the importance of creating a safe, inclusive environment for all.
Creativity, Connection and Community
Complementing classroom learning was a wide range of engaging co- and extra-curricular events. These included:

A particular highlight of the week saw students across all year groups learning and performing the choreography to “We’re All in This Together” from High School Musical — a fitting anthem that perfectly captured the spirit of unity and togetherness that Bí Cineálta Week represents.
Reaching Beyond Our School Walls
Our First Year students, accompanied by our Ethos Ambassadors and talented Traditional Irish Music performers, extended the spirit of kindness into the wider community. They prepared thoughtful care packages for residents of our local nursing home before visiting to provide musical entertainment, conversation and card games. The smiles, stories and shared laughter made it a truly heartwarming experience for everyone involved.
A Community Effort
Bí Cineálta Week was a wonderful reminder that kindness is not just an idea — it is something we actively practice every day in Bunclody Community College.
