We are looking forward to welcoming our first year students back to Bunclody Community College on Monday, 31 August 2026 for what promises to be another exciting and eventful academic year. With a full programme of learning, activities and community events planned, there will be plenty for students and staff to look forward to throughout 2026–2027.
A particular highlight will be our annual Culture Day, which celebrates the wonderful diversity within our school community. Students representing different nationalities and cultures will have the opportunity to share their traditions, food, music and experiences, creating a colourful celebration of the many backgrounds represented in Bunclody Community College. It is always a special day in the school calendar and one which reflects our strong sense of community and respect for others.
Our Bunclody 5K Run/Walk will also return during the school year. Following the success of our inaugural event, the 5K will once again bring together students, staff, families and members of the wider community for a fun and active event. It promises to be another great opportunity to strengthen our links with the local community while promoting health, wellbeing and participation.
Later in the school year, Seachtain na Gaeilge will provide an opportunity to celebrate the Irish language and our rich cultural heritage. A range of activities will encourage students to engage with Gaeilge in an enjoyable and positive way, helping to bring the language to life throughout the school.
These major events will sit alongside the many other activities, initiatives, themed weeks and opportunities that take place across the school year. The academic calendar also includes our Parent–Teacher Meetings, and staff training days. Students will have school closures on 5 November 2026 and 26 January 2027 to facilitate staff training connected with the introduction of the New Senior Cycle.
The school year will run until Friday, 4 June 2027, with the Junior Cycle and Leaving Certificate examinations provisionally scheduled to begin on 9 June 2027.
Parents and guardians can view the full 2026–2027 academic calendar, including important dates, Parent–Teacher Meetings and school closures, on the Bunclody Community College website: https://www.bunclodycc.ie/Calendar
With so much planned, 2026–2027 promises to be another busy and rewarding year at Bunclody Community College. We look forward to welcoming back our students, welcoming our new First Year students to the school community, and working together to make the year one filled with learning, achievement, creativity, participation and community spirit.
We look forward to seeing everyone back at Bunclody Community College on 31 August!
