Bunclody Community College recently held its much-anticipated annual Awards Day, marking a celebration of student achievement, dedication, and school spirit. This year’s ceremony was a little different, as the growing student population meant separate ceremonies were held for Junior and Senior students. With the gym no longer able to accommodate the entire school, this new format allowed for a more personal and focused celebration for each group.
The awards presented on the day reflected the core values that lie at the heart of life in Bunclody Community College: Excellence in Education, Care, Equality, Community, and Respect. True to this ethos, awards were not solely based on academic results, but also recognised students’ efforts, attitudes, and contributions to all aspects of school life.
A wide variety of categories were celebrated, including achievements in individual subjects, sports, music, and other extracurricular activities. The energy and enthusiasm of the students were evident throughout, as winners from across the school community were acknowledged for their commitment and success, entertained throughout by the excellent school choir.
A particular highlight of the day, aside from the wonderful musical performances, was the announcement of the overall Student of the Year awards. The Senior Student of the Year nominees were Kellie Cloke, Katherine McGlynn Green, and Sophie Roche. Congratulations to Sophie Roche, who was named Senior Student of the Year for her outstanding contributions throughout her time at the college. The Junior Student of the Year title was awarded to Amy Cloke, who has already shown herself to be a standout member of the school community.
Well done to all the winners and nominees. Their achievements are a testament to the vibrant, caring, and hardworking spirit of Bunclody Community College.
