Bunclody Community College Students Take Varied Paths After Celebrating Leaving Certificate Success

Bunclody Community College is delighted to celebrate the achievements of our Leaving Certificate Class of 2026, with students securing an impressive range of university, further education, apprenticeship and training opportunities across the country. While some students must wait a little longer before deciding on their path, many have accepted their offers from round 1.

The 2026 results reflect the hard work and determination of our students, alongside the dedication of their teachers and the support of parents and guardians. We are particularly proud of the strong number of students progressing to Level 8 university courses, with offers spanning science, technology, law and business.

Among the university destinations are Level 8 Microbiology at SETU Carlow, Level 8 Cyber Crime and Security at SETU Carlow, Level 8 Law at Maynooth University, Level 8 Business at SETU Carlow and Level 8 Biochemistry at University College Cork. These excellent achievements demonstrate the high academic standards our students continue to maintain.

Our students have also secured a diverse range of other opportunities, including an Electrician Apprenticeship, a PLC course in Make-up and Hair Artistry for Theatricals, places on other PLC and tertiary college courses around the country, including a Garda/paramedic course.

This diversity of destinations is something Bunclody Community College is particularly proud of. We are a school that aims to cater for all students and all aspirations, matching their talents with their interests and ambitions.

The strong Level 8 offers achieved this year are a source of particular pride and provide evidence of the quality of teaching and learning taking place every day in Bunclody Community College. At the same time, we are committed to preparing students who wish to enter an apprenticeship, undertake further education, pursue vocational training or move towards employment. Our careers education and guidance help students understand the many pathways available beyond second level.

The destinations achieved by the Class of 2026 demonstrate the value of this approach. From microbiology and biochemistry to cyber security, law and business; from electrical apprenticeships to creative industries and vocational courses, our students are taking their next steps in many different directions.

At Bunclody Community College, we believe that success means helping every student to find and achieve their own pathway. Whether progressing to university, developing practical skills through an apprenticeship, pursuing a PLC or tertiary course, or preparing for a particular career, our aim is to ensure students leave equipped with the knowledge, skills, confidence and resilience required for the next stage of their lives.

We extend our warmest congratulations to the Class of 2026. Their achievements are a testament to their hard work and perseverance and to the excellent teaching, learning and support provided by the staff of Bunclody Community College.

For those students who have not yet decided on their future, or are waiting for opportunities to come in the next round of offers, remember to sit-tight, and that there are many different roads, high-ways and by-ways to get to your destination. The scenic-route is often the most enjoyable!

We are immensely proud of all our students and wish them every success in the years ahead.
